Safety Pilot Services

SunCountry Flight pilots are qualified:

  • Safety pilot
  • High performance ASEL (single pilot certified not requiring airplane specific type rating)
  • Cirrus current
  • Charter pilot for part 91 high performance ASEL aircraft
  • Subcontract pilot services
  • Turbo charging experience in mulitple aircrafts
  • Dual instruction to meet rating or insurance requirements

The 2007 Nall Safety Report shows that 73.8% of the total accidents (79.1% of which were fatal) are pilot-related. 71.5% of those were personal, 13.3% of those were instructional, 2.8% of those were business and 0.7% of those were executive/corporate flights.

The addition of a second pilot in the cockpit can significantly improve that safety record. Adding a professional pilot to the cockpit is one of the best investments you can make to enhance your safety. The addition of a professional pilot enhances the enjoyment of the flight as a result of workload reduction. Also, there is potential training value to be realized by flying with an active flight instructor.

If you are not rated or have lost your medical certificate, SunCountry Flight can help you continue to enjoy the benefits of aircraft ownership. Staying current and meeting the annual insurance company currency requirements is time consuming and stressful even for those who have their pilot licenses. SunCountry Flight would be glad to act as the "copilot" in your airplane allowing you to fly and enjoy your airplane. The logging of dual instruction to meet rating or insurance requirements is also available as a side benefit.

Pilot Time Building - Safety Pilot

While buying a block of time and flying off into the sunset solo will definitely build your multi-engine time, there is another way, and many of today's schools require their planes to be operated this way. An emerging trend in multi-engine time building is to pair up pilots in the program. Here's how it works. You will be paired up with another time-building pilot for the duration of the "block" of time you purchase. All flights will be operated under VFR. One pilot will be flying under the hood while the other is acting as safety pilot. The advantage of this arrangement is that both pilots can log time as pilot in command, and the flying pilot can even apply portions of the flight towards instrument currency requirements.
